Schools find out teams as Jr. NBA draft takes place

The Jr. NBA draft took place at the National Basketball Arena recently with 10 clubs and their schools finding out which NBA side they've been paired with.

Scoil Choca Naofa from County Kildare drew the current NBA champions Milwaukee Bucks, while St. Andrew's from  Malahide had Boston Celtics come out of the draw drum and the iconic Chicago Bulls went to Kilsaran NS. The full list of schools and paired NBA sides can be found below.

The primary goal of the Jr. NBA in Ireland is to provide a fun opportunity for kids to play basketball. Basketball Ireland want to ensure that everybody taking part in the programme has the same goal for the Jr. NBA league: to give young players a fun and attention grabbing introduction to the sport.  

This is a great non-competitive way for schools to start their journey in basketball and over the first two years of the League we’ve reached over 2,000 new players. In 2022 we have ten new clubs and thirty new schools, which means there are opportunities for even more children to play in the Jr. NBA.
