The draw for the 2023 Basketball Ireland InsureMyHouse.ie Masters National Cup has been finalised, with confirmation that the culmination of the tournament will take place alongside the National League finals, March 31st to April 2nd. The finals will also be broadcast on basketballireland.tv for the first time.
28 teams will compete for honours across two categories, over 40 men and over 40 women, in the second iteration of the competition. Both defending champions from a year ago, Dublin Vikings (O40M) and Midland Masters (O40W) return to defend their crowns, although the former will be competing under a different name, Brothers Near and Far (BNAF).
The competition will be played in a knockout format.
Mike Murray, the administrator for Masters basketball in Basketball Ireland said: “I’m delighted to see the InsureMyHouse.ie Masters National Cup return in 2023, after a promising first year. Participation numbers are up in the over 40s category, which is amazing and a testament to the appetite out there for players to continue taking part in social, but competitive basketball. The finals will be available to watch on basketballireland.tv, giving the players a further platform to showcase what masters basketball is all about.
