MissQuote.ie Women's League Trophy begins with four tight ties

The MissQuote.ie League Trophy tips-off this weekend with four intriguing quarter-final matchups to get things underway.

Recently crowned MissQuote.ie Division One champions St. Pauls Killarney welcome Abbey Seals Dublin Lions to Kerry on Thursday evening with the Dublin side missing leading scorer on the year Sydney Kin and Sophia Widmeyer, who have returned to the home following the end of the league season. Sophia Paska and company will be eyeing a double on the year having secured their status in the top flight for 2024/25 and have every opportunity to advance to the next round in front of their home fans.

iSecure Swords Thunder need to pick themselves up quickly following their defeat at the National Basketball Arena if they’re going to add to their North Conference title this season. Moy Tolka Rovers are the opposition in ALSAA, with the Dubliners looking to add to their victory over Thunder in the regular season of the MissQuote.ie Division One. iSecure Swords Thunder will be favourites in many people’s book to progress though, with Moy Tolka Rovers facing the absence of leading scorer in that 63-55 win, Tazsa Garrett-Hamett.

The two tightest games to call could be between Limerick Celtics and McEvoy’s Cavan Eagles and Templeogue and Limerick Sport Huskies. McEvoy’s Cavan Eagles took the spoils at the Virginia Show Centre in their previous meeting with Limerick Celtics this season, Destiny Robinson was electric for Maeve Coleman’s side, registering a double-double of 20 points and 11 rebound in an 86-74 win.

It was a very similar outcome in the one meeting between Limerick Sport Huskies and Templeogue in the MissQuote.ie Division One. Scout Frame put in a vintage performance to finish with 32 points and 11 rebounds to give the home side a 14-point win in UL Arena. That meeting was back in November however and both will have developed significantly in the ensuing months.
