Club Mark

Basketball Ireland Club Mark

Basketball Ireland’s Development Officers have put in place the Club Mark to help all clubs island-wide to become more sustainable and achieve their full potential.

There are four levels to the Basketball Ireland Club Mark. Clubs must achieve a pass grade at each level to progress to the next stage.

  • Level 1 will help your club achieve governance and best practice. Once this level is reached, you will receive the Bronze Basketball Ireland Club Mark. The first twenty clubs to reach the Basketball Ireland Level 1 award will receive two game balls, two green shoots manuals, one voucher for a single place on an ‘Introduction to Coaching’ course and a tailored development officer visit.

  • Level 2 is all about club structure and development. The Sliver Basketball Ireland Club Mark will be awarded when this level is reached.

  • Level 3 is focused on strategic planning and player/coach development. Once targets are met, the Basketball Ireland Gold Club Mark will be awarded.

  • Finally, level 4 is about implementing plans and engaging with basketball initiatives over 1-2 years. When this level is reached the Basketball Ireland Platinum Club Mark will be awarded.

Commenting on Club Mark Ciaran O’Sullivan, Head of Development at Basketball Ireland, said:

“We are delighted to announce the Basketball Ireland Club Mark today. We are continuously looking at ways to help our members and clubs reach their full potential. Having a Basketball Ireland Club Mark and our Development Officers on hand, we hope that clubs use the programme to their full advantage and reap the rewards. It will help clubs develop their personnel – volunteers, players and coaches – along with their infrastructure and will also make clubs more attractive to sponsors.”

At each level there are documents and tutorials, with development officers available to assist clubs with anything else they might need.
