Basketball Ireland launch latest 'Dream Programme' to empower aspiring coaches

Basketball Ireland is proud to announce the launch of the latest version of the Dream Programme, an innovative mentorship initiative designed to elevate and empower the next generation of basketball coaches across the island of Ireland. This programme will provide 24 aspiring coaches with the opportunity to be mentored by some of the country’s most experienced and respected coaching mentors.

This year there will be two Dream cohorts running concurrently. The first will be for female only coaches and feature female mentors while the second cohort will be open for all to apply.

Both Dream programmes are designed for coaches of all levels, whether they are just at the very beginning of their coaching journey or have some years of experience who are looking to upskill their coaching under the mentorship of expert coaches. Successful applicants will be expected to be available to attend the Basketball Ireland coaching conference on the 23rd / 24th August in the National Basketball Arena where this years programmes will launch.

The female Dream Programme cohort is viewed as a significant step towards increasing female representation in sports coaching, particularly in basketball, where the need for diversity and inclusion is more important than ever. By focusing on mentorship, the programme aims to provide participants with the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to excel in their coaching careers.
