A coaching Licence is compulsory for any coach wishing to coach a team in Basketball Ireland Competitions of any level.
Information on the application process is below, and you can click here to visit Helpside to submit your application. Once you are logged into Helpside look for the "Coach Licencing" option on the main menu at the top of the page.
Check that you have completed the following in order to be eligible for a Coaching Licence:
Register with Basketball Ireland as a coach through the online registration system for technical members and pay the technical registration fee. (BI Registration Guide)
Complete the online coaching licence application form on Helpside in full once you have completed Steps 1 and 2. Please make sure you attach any requested information as incomplete forms will not be processed.
Basketball Ireland will then process your Coaching Licence application and post out your licence (During busy times this could take up to 21 days). If you are not eligible for a licence due to non-compliance of Steps 1 or 2 you will be notified by email within due course.
Once you have received your license:
Keep your Coaching Licence safe in order to produce it as required at the various Basketball Ireland Competitions you may be involved in.
From September 1st, 2018, a Basketball Ireland Coaching Licence will be the only form of proof accepted to show that as a coach, you are qualified, registered and Garda vetted/AccessNi certified and proof of completing a minimum of a Child Safeguarding 1 Course, and/or Sport Irelands Safeguarding Refresher course.
Replacement licences will be issued at a cost of €10 to cover the licence and postage.
Important Note
From the start of the 2021/22 season, no coach will be able to take part in any Basketball Ireland competitions without holding a Coaching Licence and this will be strictly enforced.
