Men’s SOCIAL Player Registration

Basketball Ireland are delighted to announce the launch of a Men’s SOCIAL Player membership. Basketball Ireland recognise a need for recreational pathways in the game to ensure there is a place for everyone in our sport. 

This membership will cover men over the age of 18, who are playing recreational basketball with one of our clubs. It'll allow players participating in men’s social/recreational basketball to register with Basketball Ireland and be covered under the player injury insurance cover.  It will cost of €15. 

Men's social player membership is for those who do not currently play any form of competitive club basketball and would like to play. The player cannot be registered as a Basketball Ireland player with any Basketball Ireland club. However, past players are welcome so long as they are no longer actively playing club basketball.

This decision follows on from the success of our SOCIA-Ball programme. We hope this new membership will increase the number of males playing basketball recreationally.

There is no cost to this.

Player registration for the 2025/26 season is now open via the link below. Players must use their own unique email address. If you are a coach or a referee etc select all fields and you will only pay for the highest membership. Please do not create multiple profiles. 

Please note if you are a male referee/table official/coach you do not need to re -register you are covered now once you have paid over €15 to play SOCIAL/Recreational Basketball.
