How to enter the Masters National Cup 2025/26
Basketball Ireland would like to request expressions of interest from teams interested in competing in the Basketball Ireland Masters National Cup 2025/26.
Brothers Near and Far defeated Leixlip Zalgiris 86-79 in a thriller at the National Basketball Arena in April to win the Over 40 men's category, making them back-to-back champions at different age grades. The entry fee per team is €160. New teams entering the Masters National Cup must also pay a bond of €165. For those teams who paid the bond last year, this bond will roll over to this year.
Categories will be determined based on entry levels, but a guide to who is eligible for O40 and O50 are:
- O40 Men Must be 40 Years or older in 2026
- O40 Women Must be 40 Years or older in 2026
- O50 Men Must be 50 Years or older in 2026
- O50 Women Must be 50 years or older in 2026
Thr format will run with group games must be completed by December 14th, Quarter finals will take place in January, semi-finals in early February, and finals end of February.

Rules and Regulations
- Teams competing in the competition must be registered with a Basketball Ireland registered club.
- All players must be registered with Basketball Ireland and hold a valid current BIPIN.
- Registration fee is €28.00 per player.

- Please register as an Adult player and then as a masters in the dropdown.
- Each team is allowed to have two guest players from another club who do not have a team entered into the Masters National Cup.
- These players must be registered with Basketball Ireland.
- The format of the competition will be determined when the final number of teams entries are known.
- All teams are guaranteed two games.
- Referees & T.O. fee’s will be split evenly by both teams and paid immediately after the game.
- The referee’s will be appointed by B.I. and the TO’s by the home team. Game date, time & Venue Eircode to be emailed to joenaughton3@gmail.com, nbraappointments@gmail.com, & mmurray@ireland.basketball at least 5 days prior to tip off.
- Hall hire to be paid by home team.
- Game rules and regulations to follow standard FIBA National League rules.
- Age requirements are as follows.
- O40 Men Must be 40 Years or older in 2026
- O40 Women Must be 40 Years or older in 2026
- O50 Men Must be 50 Years or older in 2026
- O50 Women Must be 50 years or older in 2026
- Team registration, fee and Bond must be completed online at https://ireland.basketball/registration
- Results: Emailed to masterscups@basketballireland.ie by home team.
Please use the following format:
- Half-Time Score
- Full-Time Score
- Top 3 scorers names from each team
- Picture of both teams
- A minimum warm up time of 30 minutes must be given to the travelling team by the home team.
- The entry fee is €160 per team. New teams entering the Masters Cup must also pay a bond of €165. For those teams who paid the bond last year, this bond will roll over to this year.
- Group games must be completed by Dec 14th, Quarter finals will take place in January, Semi finals Early Feb, finals end of Feb.
