National League Player and Coach Of The Month awards announced for December

The December winners of the 'Player' and 'Coach' Of The Month' awards for the 2022/23 InsureMyVan.ie and MissQuote.ie Super League and Division 1 have been decided, with 14 clubs represented.

It has been a dazzling start to life in Cork for MJ Randolph. He picks up the InsureMyVan.ie Player of the Month accolade after averaging 34.7 points per game for UCC Demons, as they picked up three league wins in December. Josh Wilson of DBS Éanna is in second place, starring for the well-rounded Dublin side, while coach Darren McGovern picks up the Coach of the Month prize. In third place, it's University of Galway Maree's Rodrigo Gomez. A solid performer for his team, sitting pretty at the top of the league on nine wins, alongside DBS Éanna.


 Irish senior women's captain Edel Thornton is the December winner of MissQuote.ie Player of the Month. The Singleton SuperValu Brunell star averaged 29 points last month. In second place, Celena Taborn of Trinity Meteors has had a super month for the Dublin club, as they lie at the joint-top of the pile, alongside The Address UCC Glanmire. This fine run of form sees their head coach Niall Berry pick up Coach of the Month. Gráinne Dwyer makes the list in third after a fruitful month for i3PT Fr Mathews, averaging 22 points per game.


In InsureMyVan.ie Division One, Matt Treacy, of Moy Tolka Rovers, is awarded the December Player of the Month award after a consistent season so far for the Irish international, marked with a 41 point game against Scotts Lakers SPK. That leaves his team on top with Limerick Sports Eagles. It's second place for Jonathan Garcia of Dwyer’s of Cork Fr. Mathews, who averaged 29.3 points per game in his last three games, as the Cork outfit sit on a 7-3 league record. Ulster University’s Conor O'Sullivan was in third place after a solid December including a victory over league leaders, Moy Tolka Rovers. Dave Biggins of Drogheda Wolves is Coach of the Month, after two clutch victories to leave his team on a 8-2 record.

Amelia Motz of Abbey Seals Dublin Lions, is awarded the first prize for Player of the Month in MissQuote.ie Division One. Motz averaged 23 points in December, including 30 in a crucial victory over Griffith College Templeogue. Former Irish U18 international Lucy Devoy picks up second place, after a stellar month for Limerick Celtics. Third place goes to the consistent Scout Frame for SETU Carlow who has scored 29.4 points per game this season. The Coach of the Month accolade goes to Phoenix Rockets' Breda Dick after some super team performances including a convincing 82-55 victory over Moy Tolka Rovers.
