Ireland U16/U17/U18 talent identification sessions open for registration

Basketball Ireland is pleased to announce the dates and venues for the international talent identification sessions, which will take place on the weekend of October 23rd and 24th at venues in Meath and Dublin (more information below). 

Talent identification sessions will take place for under 16 (U16) men and women, under 17 (U17) men, and under 18 (U18) men and women. The talent identification sessions for U17 women will take place at a later date, following the appointment of an Ireland U17 women's head coach. 

Talent identification sessions for the under 14 and under 15 Academy will also take place will take place during the week of October 25th to 29th. Further details will be announced in the coming days on our website and social media.

Registration

Registration is now closed - the deadline for registration was midnight on Sunday 17th October. There is €15 fee for attending talent identification sessions, which was to be paid online as directed when completing registration. Some talent identification sessions will have multiple sessions listed, including on different days. Players should make themselves available for all sessions listed in their age group and will be informed which sessions they need to attend no later than close of business on Wednesday 20th October.

Attending a talent identification session

Players should arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of their confirmed session time. All players should bring a dark top and a light top, reversible if possible. Players should also bring adequate food and drink for the time they are required to attend.

Eligibility

  • To be eligible for the Ireland U16 team, you must be born on/after 1st January 2006

  • To be eligible for the Ireland U17 team, you must be born on/after 1st January 2005

  • To be eligible for the Ireland U18 team, you must be born on/after 1st January 2004

All players must be registered with Basketball Ireland and must have a valid BIPIN in order to be eligible for selection.

Any players living and playing abroad that can not attend the trial should still complete the registration form but do not need to pay the fee.
