Gareth O'Reilly announces men's U17 squad for three-game series in Scotland

The Ireland men's U17 squad has been trimmed by head coach Gareth O'Reilly, ahead of a three-game series with Scotland in Dundee at the end of this month.

The squad has an excellent spread of players, with 15 clubs represented among the 24-strong group. Two of those, Leo Byrne (Alvik Bask) and Kristian Farrell (Reading Rockets), join the team from overseas.

On the domestic front five players are chosen between Limerick Celtics and Limerick Lions respectively. Phoenix, Éanna, Belfast Star, Killester, Ballincolling and Dundalk Ravens are the other teams with multiple players chosen.

Templeogue, Neptune, Blue Demons, Skibbereen and Corrib are the other sides who are represented among the group.

Head coach Gareth O'Reilly had this to say on his squad:

"It is never easy to reduce a squad and this time is no different. It has been great to witness the progress each of the players have made in recent months and while there will undoubtedly be some disappointed young men out there today, hopefully they can take their experiences of the past few months with them to use as added motivation to help them towards achieving their goals in the years ahead.

I am excited to work with the selected squad in the next phase of the programme as we get ready for our trip to Scotland at the end of May, and various other camps that we have planned for over the summer months."
