Basketball Ireland’s new Nike playing kit has been officially launched. Featuring the iconic Nike swoosh, the kit is inspired by the timeless Dara Knot - a symbol of strength, wisdom, and leadership.
The new kit will be worn at this week’s FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 European Pre-Qualifiers games with Azerbaijan and Kosovo and will be available to buy in selected stores at Official Retail Partner Intersport Elverys and online at elverys.ie from November 28th.
Speaking at kit launch, Ireland women’s captain Edel Thornton said: “It’s great to finally get a chance to wear the new Nike kit, which feels and looks great. The Dara Knot really encompasses what Irish teams are about, tenacious and resilient, and we’ll wear the shirt with pride. I think Irish basketball fans around the world - who give us tremendous backing whenever we take to the court - will love the new kit.”
Irish international Aidan Harris-Igiehon, who is set to adorn the kit in this week’s World Cup qualifiers against Azerbaijan and Kosovo added: “The guys in the locker room can’t wait to wear our new Nike kit in front of our home fans at the National Basketball Arena this week. Representing Ireland and wearing the kit is the ultimate privilege. We have put so much detail into our preparations for these games - on and off the court - and this diligence and determination is mirrored by Nike, the world’s leading sports brand.”
Philip Staunton, Buying Director at Intersport Elverys, stated: "Basketball continues to be the fastest growing category at Intersport Elverys, as more children take up the game annually. Basketball Ireland's roadmap for the next few years, now bolstered by a partnership with the world’s biggest sports brand, Nike, promises exciting times for everyone in the basketball community. We're excited and privileged to be kitting out Basketball Ireland supporters in Nike merchandise online at Elverys.ie and at select stores around the country."
The 2024/25 kit is the first of a six-year partnership agreement between Basketball Ireland and KitKing, Nike’s teamwear partner for Great Britain and Ireland. Dips Patel, KitKing CEO, said: “We’ve really enjoyed collaborating with Basketball Ireland to bring this 2024/25 Nike kit to life. We wanted to reflect Ireland’s deep-rooted cultural heritage through the Dara Knot and we’re delighted to finally launch the new kit to basketball fans in Ireland and around the world.”
The new Nike Ireland jersey is priced from €56 (junior) and €75 (adult), while shorts can be purchased from €44 (junior) and €60 (adult).
