The first round of silverware has been handed out at the U14 Girls AIG All-Ireland Club Championships in Gormanston where Dublin Lions, Maree and Limerick Sport Huskies claimed Division A, B and C division trophies respectively.
Dublin Lions had an impressive group stage campaign, winning all three encounters against Limerick Celtics, Carlow BC and St. Mary's Castleisland, which saw them progress to the quarter-final stage on Sunday where they narrowly edged out a strong Bantry side, 47-41. Lions won out against 39-27 against a resillent Malahide side which earned them a place in the evening's final in which they comfortably won out 42-14 against St. Bridget's Carlow, collecting the AIG All-Ireland Club Championships U14 Division A trophy in the process.
Maree secured an impressive two wins out of three in Group 5, only failing to beat group table-toppers Fr. Mathews, which preceded quarter and semi-final wins against Portlaoise Panthers and Kilkenny Stars respectively. Maree secured the AIG All-Ireland Club Championships Division B title with a 32-24 win against a strong Mucko Lakers side.
Limerick Sport Huskies qualified for the Division C knockout stage with a 29-25 win against Claregalway on Court 4, they won out 50-31 in the quarter-final which was accompanied by a 37-28 win against Letterkenny Blaze to qualify for the final.
