Basketball Ireland Academy U15 selections 2024/25

The players who will take part in the 2024/25 Basketball Ireland U15 Academy have been selected, and can be viewed at the bottom of this page. Basketball Ireland wishes to thank all players that attended the Talent Identification Sessions, especially for the effort made by each and every player in the sessions.

What Next?

If your child has been selected and you wish to accept the place, please read the information below.

Academy place confirmation and registration

This year we will continue to use the system across the entire academy and international teams called XPS. This system can be downloaded to any mobile phone, tablet or computer. It will allow parents, players and coaches to communicate on a much quicker and safer platform. XPS will allow communication between Coaches and parents/players, it will allow training plans to be shared from academy coaches, all session information will appear on XPS, session plans and video analysis can also be shared on XPS. On top of this all players will have access to huge a library of basketball drills to cover anything in the game and a similar library of strength and conditioning exercises. For new users to the XPS it will take a little while to get used to all the functions that it offers but the basics of getting registered and using the calendar are all very simple. For those that want to learn more there are tutorial links for the on the home page of the app or you can google XPS for a full list of tutorials.

How to get XPS?

By Tuesday 1st of October all selected players will receive an email from Sideline Sports to the parents email address used to register them for the talent ID session. This email may go to your junk email so please check all inboxes. If for any reason you have not received the email by close of business Tuesday, please email Matt on mhall@ireland.basketball and include the players name, region and parents’ email. We will be prioritizing these emails for this period so please include the correct information.

Once you receive the email, please download the application and login with the details contained in the email. You will then be taken to a registration page within the app. Please complete all information requested carefully as this will be used for your child’s profile. Once this form is completed you don’t have to do anything further for the time being.

Deadline for accepting the academy place?

We ask that all parents register their child no later than the close of business on Thursday 3rd of October via the information form that will be appear on your agenda on XPS when you log in.

It can also be found on your XPS calendar by clicking on Tuesday 1st of October. After this time, we will mark the player as not accepting a place on the academy.

With 400 players at this age group across the country we rely on information being correct on the database

1st Session Date

Please note that the first academy session for U14 and U15 age groups will take place on the weekend of 5th and 6th of October. The dates for each session will appear on the academy page of the website as well as on your XPS calendar.

We try our best to keep the website up to date with correct session times and dates in advance, but all parents should use the XPS calendar details as the confirmed details. Coaches will keep this information up to date themselves on XPS so will be correct.

If you do not wish to take up this place in the academy, please let us know by completing this quick form so we can give the place to someone else.

To focus fully on running the academy, we need to cut down on email traffic so for this coming season all information will be published on the Basketball Ireland website via the Academy page which can be found here:

Please bookmark this link on your browser and check at regular intervals.

 Basketball Ireland Academy Page

All information on the coaching staff, session calendar, gyms and times will still appear on the academy page of the website should anyone need it but all communications for players who register for the academy should now go through the XPS network app.

Once again, we have an excellent group of coaches with a lot of experience, enthusiasm and knowledge in order to raise the standard of coaching and playing.

Under the academy Lead coaching and content staff Martin McGettrick and Ciaran O’Sullivan, the regional head coaches and their staff will be coaching from a syllabus put together to improve the standard of the players and give them the knowledge they will need to play basketball at an elite level.

Below you will see the confirmed players selected to each academy.

Cost of the Academy

The cost of the Academy is €260 for the year up until the end of May which includes the players academy reversible kit, 7 provincial training sessions and 3 full academies get togethers as well as the end of program Interprovincial tournament. Scroll to the bottom of the article to see available scholarship options.

  • The payment system will be sent out by message on XPS Network in coming weeks once we get registrations completed.

Once all players are registered, we will send out details on payment so no need to do anything until you receive this email which won’t be with you until after the registration deadline.

Extra Academy Activity

At the end of the regular Academy program in May a summer program selection will be made for both boys and girls. There will be continued sessions during the school holidays for these selected players should they wish to be part of the program. There will be an extra cost for this program but it is subsidized to keep costs down.

There is also potential this year that we will take part in an under 15 4 Nations tournament along with England, Scotland and Wales. This is currently being discussed with these federations. If we do take part a team will be selected to represent the Basketball Ireland Academy and we will update parents during the season.

Communications

To make sure all issues are covered, and we are able to answer any questions quickly, please check messages and calendars on XPS network as well as checking the academy pages on the website for all information first before sending emails.

  • If the answer is not there and it is about a training session or confirming you cannot make something please communicate to the head coach of your regional academy via XPS network.

You will have a direct link to the academy Head coach and administrative staff for each region via the XPS app.

  • If you have a payment question once we send out details them please contact BI accounts through Michelle Dermody mdermody@ireland.basketball
  • For general questions that are not answered on the website and don’t relate to any of the above please contact Matthew Hall mhall@ireland.basketball for Regional Academy questions.

Basketball Ireland U15 Academy 2024/25: Player Selection

Basketball Ireland Academy Scholarship application process

Deadline for applications 21st of October 2024

Click Here For Scholarship Application Form

  • We also have 40 full scholarships for economically disadvantaged families to be shared across the  U14 and U15. These may be split into some half scholarships depending on circumstances and the number of worthy applications we receive. The idea behind these scholarships is to ensure that no talented basketball players miss out on joining the academy due to the financial requirements involved. Our aim is to help financially those most in need of assistance so we hope parents will apply in confidence if help is required.

  • The deadline for applications is Monday, 21st of October and we will reply to all applications to confirm if you are successful or not no later that Friday, 25th of October. We will be sending out payment details to all those that have registered on the academy as soon as possible after this date.

  • Applications are by way of form only.
