Basketball Ireland invites applications for position of Galway City Development Officer

Basketball Ireland is looking to increase its presence in Galway City with a Basketball Ireland Development Officer and is now inviting applications for the role in conjunction with Galway City Council.

The successful candidate will be committed to providing participation opportunities for all sections of the community in various basketball activities. They will work with organisations including local authorities, clubs, schools and Basketball Ireland, with the primary goal of ensuring that suitable programmes and training services are in place at local and national levels.

Job title:

‘Galway City Basketball Development Officer’  to work within the Galway City Council administrative area.

Reports To:

Basketball Ireland Head of Development.

Role Duties: 

The “BDO” will continue to deliver Basketball Ireland Programmes and ensure that the activities in Galway City are properly integrated into the broader objectives of promoting basketball and community development generally.

The “BDO” will work closely with existing agencies, as nominated by Galway City Council, and operate in an integrated manner with all relevant personnel, communities, and target groups.

• Social outreach – young adults/teens
• Working in disadvantaged areas
• Women in Sport
• Ethnic Minority Engagement/Hard to Reach Groups
• Males over 35
• Club Development in Galway City.
• Development of Inclusive Programmes for People with Disabilities

These target groups will be reviewed on an annual basis and amended as required. Work programmes that are developed must include the designated target groups. 

Hours:

Full-Time, 40 Hours per week. The successful candidate must be flexible to evening and weekend working hours
