Following a frantic month of InsureMyVan.ie and MissQuote.ie Super League and Division 1 fixtures, the winner of the November 'Player' and 'Coach' Of The Month' awards have been decided.
University of Galway Maree have been the standard bearers of the InsureMyVan.ie Super League in November, winning all three of their league games including a 100-90 win on the road against high flying Emporium Cork Basketball. Jarett Haines has been inctrumental in that run, averaging 21.5ppg and shooting 82% from the line so far this season. It's double delight for the Galway side as head coach Charlie Crowley picks up the coaching honours. Crowley has taken his team to the top of the InsureMyVan.ie Super League standings with a 7-1 record, playing some entertaining basketball in the process.
Dayna Finn missed out on the first couple of Trinity Meteors' games through injury, but is quickly making up for lost time. The Irish international averaged 18-points in November, as her team established themselves as the biggest threat to The Address UCC Glanmire's crown at this point in the campaign.
The coaching award goes to Leixlip Amenities Liffey Celtics' Karl Kilbride. The Kildare outfit picked up two wins this month to get their season back on track after a 1-4 start. With international talent in the shape of Sorcha Tiernan, Aine O'Connor and Ciara Bracken, Kilbride will fancy his team to cause one or two more upsets before the season ends.
Manny Payton finished 3rd in the voting for October's 'Player Of The Month' and he's continued that fine form throughout Limerick Sport Eagles tough November schedule. The experienced pro is giving his team 29.7ppg in addition to some tenacious one on one defence each week. Limerick Sport Eagles are currently atop the InsureMyVan.ie Men's Division 1 standings, as they look to make the step up to the top tier.
Their nearest challengers are Moy Tolka Rovers, following a run of three wins in succession. Head coach Gerald Kennedy is the 'Coach of The Month' for orchestrating a 7-1 start to the campaign.
There's a familiar feel to the MissQuote.ie Division 1 player voting. Alyssa Marie Velles picks up her second award of the season, staying consistent during Portlaoise Panthers' unbeaten start to league play. Scout Frame finishes runner-up for the second month in a row, while Shelby Cheslek's shooting performances for Moy Tolka Rovers earn her recognition in 3rd spot.
Moy Tolka Rovers complete a coaching clean sweep, with Igor Petrovic being named as 'Coach of The Month' in MissQuote.ie Division 1. The Dublin team gained three wins in the month of November to take them to 6-2 overall, hot on the heels of Portlaoise Panthers and McEvoy's Cavan Eagles in the standings.
