Domino’s Men’s Super League defending champions Ballincollig to face Energywise Ireland Neptune in Cork derby, and Griffith College Éanna head coach Gareth Winders says newly promoted Limerick Eagles will be ‘hard to break down’ as his side face the Domino’s Men’s Super League leaders this Saturday at UL Arena.
League leaders and newly promoted Limerick Eagles will host Griffith College Éanna in round three of the Domino’s Men’s Super League, while defending champions Ballincollig welcome Energywise Ireland Neptune to the MTU Arena in an all-Cork clash.
The unbeaten Killester will face bottom of the table St. Vincent’s in a Dublin derby, as Mike Olson looks to secure the top spot and Mark Bodnar’s men seek their first win of the season. Garvey’s Tralee Warriors will venture east to contest with UCD Marian, as both teams sit with a 1-1 record.
UCC Demons enter round three following a 12-point loss, as they’re set to face the in-form Belfast Star in the Mardyke Arena. Only one place separates Limerick Celtics and EJ Sligo All-Stars before their contest in UL Arena this Saturday.
Newly promoted Limerick Eagles stand tall at the top of the Domino’s Men’s Super League following opening wins against St. Vincent’s and defending champions Ballincollig. Niall McDermott’s men have averaged more points per game than any team, putting up 213 points over two games. Alex Carlisle has been the clear scoring threat for Limerick Eagles, averaging 33 points per game, while Tobias Christensen has led the charge in assists with 14 in two games.
Griffith College Éanna fell short to UCC Demons in gameweek one, only to turn the screw in week two and defeat Garvey’s Tralee Warriors in Coláiste Éanna. It wasn’t a pretty contest lastweekend, as Griffith College Éanna took a 77-75 win in a tight contest. Éanna's American signings Morgan Taylor and Nick Hopkins have proved to be crucial for Gareth Winder’s side, while Irish guard Cathal O’Sullivan continues to impress the league, averaging over 18 points per game.
“We are happy with the win over a very tough Tralee team. It went to the wire, and we were able to close it out. Obviously, we will take the learnings from that game as all teams do,” said Winders. “Limerick Eagles pose a difficult challenge unbeaten. Sitting top of the table with a 2-0 record – they're a very talented team. They play a very strong zone defence that is difficult and can be hard to break down. We will be ready to bring a strong performance to them on Saturday.”
Domino’s Men’s Super League defending champions Ballincollig had a disappointing 29-point loss to Limerick Eagles in week two, following their opening week win against Limerick Celtics. Irish international and captain Adrian O’Sullivan continues to drive the Ballincollig squad, with 12 points per game, while latest signing Alex Bellver leads the scoring charge with 31 points. Their second-round loss leaves them in tenth position, only two places above this week’s competition Energywise Ireland Neptune.
Energywise Ireland Neptune have failed to pick up a win this season, having come close against Limerick Celtics last week. The game was tied at 78-78 with only three and a half minutes left of play, but two-pointers from Callum Keyes and Tiras Morton, as well as a Sebastian Cole three-pointer swayed the game in Limerick Celtics’ favour. Adam Drummond’s men have been blessed by the return of Sean McCarthy, who has scored 46 points in the opening games, while signings Sam Smith, Kendall Taylor and Jalen Hodge have shown promising performances in their introduction to the National League.
Ballincollig got the better of Neptune in their first meeting last year, beating them 108-91 in round three, before Neptune flipped the script to take an 83-69 win on the road.
UCD Marian kick started their season with a dominant display against Neptune, winning 105-93 at home, before losing in a 20-point contest to Killester. UCD’s third quarter implosion in round two left them a deficit too large to return from, as they trailed by 20 leading into the final quarter. Isaiah Taylor has been UCD’s biggest scoring threat, averaging 23 points per game, while Tanner Graham produced a phenomenal defensive display against Killester with ten defensive rebounds, one block and one steal.
Garvey’s Tralee Warriors came out the wrong side of a 77-75 scoreline against Griffith College Éanna in round two; however, Gareth Moore’s side were in the game right to the end.
“We’ve had a tough start against Belfast and Éanna. In preseason, we probably would have taken 1-1 but looking back now, there is definitely a bit of regret over Saturday night,” said Moore. “It’s probably one we left after us, but credit to Éanna, they made big plays when it mattered. Another tough trip to Dublin this week against UCD, Ioannis’ (Liapakis) teams are always so well set up, (Isaiah) Taylor is a real threat and Tanner (Graham) has been here a few years now and is always a difficult match up with his shooting. We are nursing a couple of knocks from the weekend but hopeful of a good performance and result.”
Moore’s men have been led by Jaden Daughtry and Alec Millender, who have combined for 79 points over two games. It was Garvey’s Tralee Warriors who took both games during the 2025/26 campaign, winning 85-83 and 77-74 in two tightly contested games.
Only one position separates Limerick Celtics and EJ Sligo All-Stars in the Domino’s Men’s Super League before their clash this weekend at UL Arena. Limerick Celtics are coming into round three off the back of a 98-88 win against Energywise Ireland Neptune, where Callum Keyes and Sebastian Cole shone brightest for Tony Hehir’s side.
EJ Sligo All-Stars welcomed UCC Demons to Connacht on the weekend, where the home team ran away 100-88 winners. A monstrous defensive display kept Demons’ Elijah Tillman and Asanti Price quiet, while Miles Brown led the scoring charge for Sligo down the other end.
In the 2025/26 season, EJ Sligo All-Stars got early bragging rights over Limerick Celtics, with an 88-86 win at Mercy College. Limerick Celtics took the game to Sligo at Crescent College in their second encounter, coming away 114-103 winners at home.
Mark Bodnar is yet to pick up a win this season with St. Vincent’s, as his side face the unbeaten Killester this weekend. Killester went two for two against St. Vincent’s last season, winning 95-71 on the road and 93-71 in Clontarf. Killester head coach Mike Olson led St. Vincent’s last year and is prepared to take on his previous side in round three.
“We have been pretty solid on the defensive end but offensively we need to take better care of the ball, and our shot selection has been inconsistent at best,” said Olsen. “We are expecting a great effort from Vincent’s. They are a prideful bunch, and they will be looking for a big bounce back game following their opening losses. (Scott) Stone and (Lawrence) Slim are premier players and (James) Phelan is very solid at the point. It’s a Dublin derby game and we will need to meet the standard.”
“I loved my time at Vincent’s and certainly appreciate them giving me the opportunity to come to Ireland,” added Olsen.
Killester will play their first game on the road this weekend after already going two from two at home. Olsen’s side began the season with a narrow four-point win over EJ Sligo All-Stars, before unleashing on UCD Marian to win 85-65. Josh Wilson has hit the ground running for Killester, leading the scoring charge with 47 points in two games, while Stefan Desnica has adjusted to his new surroundings, scoring 29 points in two games.
UCC Demons will welcome Belfast Star to the Mardyke Arena this weekend, as both sides bring a 1-1 record into the contest. UCC Demons opened their Domino’s Men’s Super League accounts with a statement home victory against Griffith College Éanna, before falling short to EJ Sligo All-Stars in round two.
Belfast Star head coach Adrian Fulton knows the challenges that the Mardyke Arena brings, as he spoke about the threats that UCC Demons pose to the league.
“Our performance against St Vincent’s was an improvement from our performance in Tralee, but a lot of work remains to be done to get to a high enough level to compete with the very best teams,” said Fulton. “We still have to do a much better job of taking care of the ball, particularly against Demons who are excellent in transition. Demons have as talented a roster as any team in the country, with multiple threats across all positions including two very good Americans. I expect them to be right in the mix at the end of the season. Playing in the Mardyke is always a great challenge and we are looking forward to it.”
Belfast Star ran away 108-88 winners in De La Salle College last weekend, with a standout performance from American signing Jordan Green, who grabbed a double-double with 30 points and ten rebounds. Irish international Rapolas Buivydas brought his A-game back to Belfast with a 15-point display, while Shane Bell returned to the home fans with 20 points and five steals.
