Expressions of interest requested for InsureMyHouse.ie Masters National Cup 2022/23

Basketball Ireland wish to invite expressions of interest for teams to compete in the Masters National Cup 2022/23.

Competition grades will remain unchanged from last year, over 40's men and women and over 50's men and women. The closing date for expressions of interest will be Friday, October 28th.

Dublin Vikings celebrate following 2022 Masters National Cup glory at the National Basketball Arena. 

Masters National Cup Administrator Mike Murray said of the event: 

"The return of the Masters National Cup has been eagerly awaited and judging by the amount of interest in its return from the masters circuit, it looks like it will be really well subscribed.

The finals in the National Basketball Arena last year turned out to be a really great occason for the players and staff and provided high quality entertainment for the fans, we look forward to building on that this season."

Rules and Regulations

  1. Teams must only comprise of players resident in the same province. 
  2. All players must be registered with Basketball Ireland and hold a valid current BIPIN.

Registration fee is €20.00 per player. Register HERE  

  1. The competition will be an open draw knockout national competition.
  2. Referees & T.O.  fee’s will be split evenly by both teams and paid immediately after the game. 
  3. The referee’s will be appointed by B.I. and the TO’s by the home team.
  4. Hall hire to be paid by home team.
  5. Game rules and regulations to follow standard FIBA national league rules.
  6. Age requirements are as follows:  O40 Men - @31st Dec 2022, O40 Women - @31st Dec 2022, O50 Men - @31st Dec 2022, O50 Women - @31st Dec 2022 
  7. Team list and home venue address and Eircode to be completed and emailed to masterscups@basketballireland.ie. 
  8. Results: Emailed to masterscups@basketballireland.ie by home team. Please use the following format: Half Time Score, Full Time Score, Top 3 scorers names from each team.
  9. A minimum warm up time of 30 minutes must be given to the travelling team by the home team.
  10. Each team will be required to pay a bond of €150 as part of the application process. Failure to complete a fixture, withdrawing from the competition or playing ineligible players will result in forfeiture of the bond.
