In June Trinity College became a Basketball Ireland Centre of Excellence and this announcement builds on this partnership. Both parties are pleased to be working with Dublin City Council and its North East Inner City initiative, to help promote and grow the game in the area.
Trinity College’s Lisa Cafferky, Student Sport Pathway Manager, said:
“Trinity are delighted to be partnering with Basketball Ireland and Dublin City Council to support the growth and development of the sport within Trinity and the local community. In particular, we are looking forward to creating further opportunities for our students and to further develop our community outreach programme.”
Basketball Ireland Senior Technical Officer and BI Centres of Excellence Manager, Matt Hall, added:
“The is the natural next step with our Basketball Ireland Centre of Excellence at Trinity College. We have been in dialogue for a number of months to bring in a Development Officer and we’re really happy to announce this partnership with Dublin City Council and Trinity.”
Basketball Ireland Head of Development, Ciaran O’Sullivan said:
“This will bring the number of Basketball Ireland Development Officers around the country to ten. This link up with Trinity College and Dublin City Council will allow us to increase our presence in Dublin’s inner city and provide support and expertise to the local community, which we hope will be of huge benefit.”
