Basketball Ireland saddened by passing of our colleague Sharon Lyons

This week staff of Basketball Ireland and the National Basketball Arena have been devastated by the passing of our much loved colleague and friend, Sharon Lyons.

For over 20 years, she was an integral part of the Arena. Sharon was a familiar and much-loved face to so many, and everyone who visited the Arena knew her and loved her. Her warmth, presence, and the connections she built with people over the years made her such a special part of our community. She will be deeply missed, and her absence will be felt by so many.

Our heartfelt thoughts and deepest condolences are with her two daughters Chloe and Harley, her partner Philip and much loved dog Charlie, as well as her wide circle of family and friends at this incredibly difficult time. We hope they can take some comfort in knowing just how loved she was and how many lives she touched throughout her time with us.
