The Teresian School, Dublin are Pinergy U16B All-Ireland Schools Cup Champions after defeating St. Joseph’s Ballybunion in a thrilling close opening game of this week’s finals. MVP Helena Keane starred for the Dublin school with a 13 point haul in a superb display.
St Joseph’s had opened up a four-point lead at the interval, thanks to some sharp shooting from Orla O’Mahony who ended up with 10 points and Kate Horgan. The sides were neck-and-neck for much of the opening exchanges in a close game.
The tempo was stepped up in the third. Teresian’s defence, personified by Julia Holmes, kept their opponents to just four points throughout the third to find themselves ahead by two going into the last.
Helena Keane picked up where she left off with a clutch three to open up her last quarter account and open up a gap that St. Joseph’s couldn’t bridge in their final efforts, making sure the trophy made its way to to The Teresian School.
