Super League wins for Energywise Ireland Neptune, Belfast Star and Gurranabraher Credit Union Brunell

Energywise Ireland Neptune remain in the Men’s Super League play-off hunt following a 101-100 overtime road win against 8^th place Flexachem KCYMS. Chances Hunter posted a double-double for the victors with 23 points and 12 rebounds.

Killorglin started the game strongly, racking up 33 points in the first quarter, compared to Neptune’s 17, with Clayton Riggs Ladine, Beni Fungula, and Jeffery Okeke each scoring nine points for the home side.

Neptune managed to reclaim some of Flexachem KCYMS’s advantage, narrowing the gap to 59-44 at the midpoint. Pat Price’s side began the third period with a 9-0 run, closing in on Killorglin further and giving them a path back into the game. 

An impressive fourth quarter from Neptune, in which they outscored their opponents by twelve, was enough to take the game to overtime with the score level at 93-93, where Jaksa Sola scored the game-winning three-pointer at the death.

Belfast Star moved to a 7-7 record following their 101-92 home win against Bright St. Vincent’s – with key contributions from De Ondre Jackson (30), Darweshi Hunter (25), and Max Richardson (17).

In the only Women’s Super League game of the weekend, Gurranabraher Credit Union Brunell secured a 91-42 home win against University of Galway Mystics.

Trinity Hudson and Deaja Lynn Richardson proved crucial for the victors with a combined 41 points from the pair, including a double-double for Hudson with 24 points and 15 rebounds.

In Men’s Division One, National League newcomers Tipp Talons and Carrick Cruisers both secured their first ever road wins against Mater Private Malahide, and SETU Waterford Vikings respectively. Joshua Reynolds top-scored for Tipp Talons with 29 points, helping his side to a 90-86 win, while Shamus Colin Kahl proved key for Carrick Cruisers, chipping in with 25 points in their 83-69 win. Joels Dublin Lions edged out Maigh Cuilinn by a one-point margin, thanks to two clutch free throws at the death from Aran Lee which helped them to a 91-90 win. Maigh Cuilinn’s Grant Olsson scored a game-high 29 points, but it proved not to be enough to take home the win for the Galway side.
