Ireland men’s and women’s teams to face Norway in ‘JYSK Summer Series’

Ireland’s men’s and women’s teams will return to action on July 26th, when both sides take on Norway at the National Basketball Arena in the ‘JYSK Summer Series’.

Ireland’s women face Norway at 4pm, followed by the men’s international, which tips off at 7pm.

Roni Tuominen, Country Director, JYSK Ireland & UK, said: “JYSK is delighted to support Ireland’s international teams with this double header against Norway on July 26th. JYSK opened its first store in Ireland in 2019 and we have witnessed the huge progress that Irish basketball has made in that time. We want to play our part in supporting this, by bringing the ‘JYSK Summer Series’ to fruition. It will provide vital preparation for both teams, as they get set for FIBA EuroBasket qualifiers once more in November.”

Gus Lewis, Basketball Ireland Head of Commercial and Brand, added: “We’re really pleased to have JYSK on board as our partners for the ‘JYSK Summer Series’. They have a clear passion and drive for success, an ethos which is mirrored by Irish basketball. The games against Norway will provide a good test, with teams evenly matched in the FIBA World Rankings and it’s a great opportunity for Irish basketball fans to see their favourite players up close this summer.”

Ciaron Hearns, Commercial Sales & Marketing Manager, JYSK Ireland & UK, stated “JYSK have become ingrained in the fabric of Ireland, with 26 stores island-wide. Irish basketball matches the growth and ambition that JYSK has and we can’t wait to see the best of Irish basketball talent on the court in July for the ‘JYSK Summer Series’.”

Tickets for the double header are priced at €45 family, €20 adult, €15 student/OAP and €10 U16. Sign up to Basketball Ireland Courtside, where members will get early ticket access from 5pm on Monday 30th June, before tickets go on general sale at 10am on Tuesday 1st July via https://ireland.basketball/tickets.

Ireland’s men’s team picked up three wins in their recent FIBA Basketball World Cup qualifying campaign, while Ireland’s women’s team came agonisingly close to victory over world number 29 Latvia in their last FIBA Women’s EuroBasket outing in February.

Ireland women’s head coach James Weldon, who recently extended his tenure for the next FIBA Women’s EuroBasket Qualifying campaign, said: “This summer has seen several of our athletes sign up with NCAA colleges once more, which again highlights the calibre of players in Ireland. The FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2027 Qualifiers Draw is taking place just three days before the ‘ JYSK Summer Series’ and the game with Norway will be a crucial building block for the squad, as we prepare for the next qualification campaign.”
