Templeogue heat up race at the top of Domino’s Women’s Division One with win over Limerick Sport Huskies

Templeogue handed Limerick Sport Huskies their first loss in three games with double-double performances from Sofia Paska and Hannah Murphy giving them a 74-65 victory. Templeogue held the lead for the majority of the game, with Paska scoring 20 points and grabbing 10 boards along with Murphy getting 15 points and 10 rebounds.

The win brings Templeogue level with Huskies and has three teams now level for second spot, which would give one of the three teams a home quarter and semi-final in the playoffs.

Limerick Celtics joined Huskies and Templeogue at 10-5 with a 35-point victory over Dublin Raiders. American Sidney Richards and Irish U18 international Laura Buckley scored 19 points each in the 87-53 win. Dominique Mpesa led the way for Raiders with 16 points in the defeat.

Celtics are in joint-second with Huskies and Templeogue. Whilst, the defeat for Raiders leaves them firmly at the foot of the table at 3-12. Raiders do remain one win away from Abbey Seals Dublin Lions and University of Galway Mystics, competing for eighth place.

Kayce Vaile had one of the performances of the season as Swords Thunder overcame University of Galway Mystics 74-68. Vaile scored 39 points and added 32 rebounds, 17 offensive and 15 defensive boards as Swords picked up a sixth win of the season. Kara McCleane had one of her best games this season with a 27-point showing for Mystics.

Thunder are seventh at 6-9, as they prepare to face both Limerick Celtics and Limerick Sport Huskies in the next two weeks. Mystics now find themselves two wins off of Thunder in seventh, as they compete for the final playoff spot with Abbey Seals Dublin Lions, who are also 4-11.

Cleveland Rockets kept their grip firmly on the top spot in the Domino’s Women’s Division One with a 78-52 triumph over Abbey Seals Dublin Lions. Irish U18 international Aoibheann Donnelly scored 25 points for Rockets as they picked up a 12th win of the season.

Rockets are now 12-2, with a two-game cushion ahead of the chasing pack below them. Lions are level with Mystics in the battle for eighth place, but will be watching over their shoulder with Dublin Raiders right behind them.

Moy Tolka Rovers kept their chances of a home quarter-final alive with a 77-71 victory over Clunetech Kilkenny Stars. Dane Bertolina kept her fine form going with 25 points and 14 rebounds for Tolka. Stars newest player Kalyah Watson scored 18 for Stars in the defeat.

Tolka move one game ahead of Kilkenny at 8-7, however Stars do have an extra game to play with the loss leaving them at 7-7. Both sides are on the outside looking in at the top four, with Tolka two-wins off of the sides ahead of them.

It was a double gameweek this week in the Domino’s Men’s Division One, and Drogheda Wolves slipped up in a major way at the top of the table. Wolves suffered back to back defeats, losing inside the final minute to Ulster University, 97-99. Prince Ebwea and Darragh Ferguson scored 81 points combined, with Ebwea getting 48 himself.

Wolves followed up with a defeat to Dublin Lions on Sunday in a 70-64 loss. The two losses sees Wolves fall off the top of the table and join Limerick Sport Eagles and Killarney at 14-5.

Dublin Lions went top of the table after defeating Drogheda Wolves on Sunday, that was preceded by an 86-81 win over Carrick Cruisers on Friday. Tiago Pereira scored 20 points against Cruisers and also led the way against Wolves with a 22-point game. The victories for Lions has them at 15-4 and alone at the summit of the table.

The defeat for Carrick Cruisers was followed by a 102-79 win over Ulster University. James Aboaba scored a team-high 31 points to move them level with Maree in joint-fifth. They also move away from Moy Tolka Rovers while also holding a game in hand over Tolka. Ulster University’s mixed weekend leaves them in ninth with an identical record to Titans BC at 10-9.

Limerick Sport Eagles took a big step towards a home playoff berth with two double-digit triumphs this weekend. Eagles beat Maree 101-80 on Friday thanks to 50 points from the duo of Alex Carlisle and Ryan Leonard. Eagles then travelled to Kerry on Saturday and grabbed a 93-61 win over SPK Utility Trust Lakers. Carlisle led the way for Eagles again with 24 points. Lakers enjoyed a mixed weekend, with the loss following a 24-point win over Killarney Cougars. The two victories moved Eagles level with Lakers and Wolves, who both struggled this weekend, and stayed one win off of Lions.

Following Maree’s loss to Eagles, Jason Killeen’s side recovered to hand Killarney Cougars a second loss of the week in a 108-52 win. Isaiah Taylor scored 42 points, in what was his second 40+ point game in three games. Maree are still in fifth following the one win and one loss.

However, Maree hold two games in hand over Wolves, Eagles and Lakers in the top four, which if they should win both would bring them level with those sides in the table.  Cougars two losses this weekend has them in 15th, with a record of 3-15.

Moy Tolka Rovers kept their playoff push going with two big victories, defeating Malahide 91-69 on Tuesday, following that with a 111-52 win over Team Northwest. Daniel Ayoade and Gustas Pocevicius combined for 53 of Tolka’s points against Northwest, with Ayoade shooting an efficient 12-17 from the field. Tolka’s two wins has them in seventh, one win off of Carrick Cruisers, but also just one win ahead of Titans and Ulster themselves.

Templeogue handed Malahide and Team Northwest a second loss each this weekend, with Templeogue defeating Northwest 90-35 on Saturday, then beating Malahide on Sunday 108-66 to move to six wins for the season and leaves them in 13th after the double gameweek.

ND Audit Portlaoise Panthers had a rollercoaster of a weekend, defeating Tipp Talons by 20 points in a 103-83 victory, but then losing 105-59 to Titans BC on Sunday.
