Coláiste Éanna land U15 Boys All-Ireland schools title with 53-29 win over Presentation Bray

Coláiste Éanna continued a superb season of schools’ basketball by adding the All-Ireland U15 title to their trophy cabinet, following a 53-29 win over Presentation Bray at the National Basketball Arena on Tuesday.

The South Dublin school have now won All-Ireland titles at U15, U16 and U19 level in 2024.

A stout second quarter of defence was key to the success of Hilary Netsiyanwa’s latest success as head coach of Coláiste Éanna, as they held Presentation Bray to just three points in that time and 11 for the half.

Fitzgerald, McCarthy and Thummet led the way for the team in white. Thummet in particular managed to rattle off three successive shots from beyond the arc in a blistering display of shooting in the second half. Presentation Bray tried their best to stay with their Dublin opponents through their captain Harry Tighe, but they had to make do with the silver medal at the final buzzer.

Earlier in the day both sides had dispatched St. Joeseph’s (The Bish) College, Galway and Mercy Mounthawk to reach the decider. Coláiste Éanna needed an inspired performance from Walsh to overcome The Bish 42-33, while a late flurry form Presentation Bray’s Delaney got them over the line against a determined Mercy Mounthawk, 56-47.
