Ireland U16 men’s head coach Paul Kelleher has selected a squad of 16 for the Four Nations Tournament, which takes place at the National Basketball Arena on on Tuesday, March 26th and Wednesday, March 27th 2024.
Ireland will enter the competition as defending champions, having defeated England, Scotland and Wales to claim the silverware earlier this year at the National Basketball Arena.
Two players return from the squad who finished 21st at the FIBA U16 Men’s European Championship in 2023. 6’7” forward Kieran Quinn is eligible once more, alongside Nathan Gbinigie of Titans BC, while another member of the squad, Neptune BC’s Denis Brusevics was involved in the roster that captured the aforementioned Four Nations crown.

Sean Patterson is the second overseas selection alongside Quinn. The 5’10” guard is currently with AS Monaco in France. Domestically, 10 clubs are represented in the squad. Three players have been chosen from Éanna BC, two from Ongar Chasers, with players from Dublin Lions, Templeogue, Portlaoise Panthers, Oblate BC, Belfast Star, Titans, Ballincollig BC and Limerick Lions also making the cut.
“With every passing training camp, the players are improving all the time,” said head coach Paul Kelleher. “The connection they are making, the basketball progress and off court progress is beginning to show. As the selection process moves forward, we feel this will continue to grow, especially over the coming camps over Christmas, which we are now thoroughly looking forward to and start to prepare for the Four Nations with these 16 players,” he added.
