NBA Champion Pat Connaughton to host clinics with Basketball Ireland Academy squads

Basketball Ireland is pleased to announce a series of clinics for our academy squads that will take place in Galway, Limerick, and Dublin next week, hosted by NBA Champion Pat Connaughton.

Connaughton, whose grandparents hailed from Loughrea, Co. Galway, before moving to the United States, will be in Galway (University of Galway - Kingfisher) on Monday, August 21st, Limerick (UL Arena) on Wednesday, August 23rd and Dublin (National Basketball Arena) on Friday, August 25th.

Connaughton, who will return to the Milwaukee Bucks alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo in search of his second NBA Championship in 2023/24 said: “I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to run these clinics with Basketball Ireland through my foundation. I’ve spoken previously about taking family trips to Galway, my dual citizenship and how much that means to me. To be able to return, share my knowledge of the game of basketball and hopefully impact these young athletes is very exciting. My entire Foundation and I couldn’t be more excited for this opportunity to help the grow the game of basketball in Ireland.”

Basketball Ireland CEO, John Feehan, added: “It’s fantastic for the organisation to welcome a player with Pat Connaughton’s stature to Ireland. This is an amazing opportunity for those in the Basketball Ireland pathway programme to learn first-hand from a current NBA star, who has succeeded at the highest level. We hope that this is just the beginning of the link between Basketball Ireland and the Pat Connaughton Foundation.”
