Basketball Ireland is pleased to announce that People Playbook is becoming a Team Supporter of the Ireland U18 women's squad for the upcoming FIBA Youth EuroBasket tournament in July.
Ireland have been drawn in Group A along with Germany, Romania, Sweden and hosts North Macedonia, begining with a difficult tie against Romania on July 5th. Ireland U18 women's head coach Tommy O'Mahony named his final twelve-player squad in April, which includes two players who featured as Ireland secured a top 10 finish a year ago. All 12 selected currently play their basketball in Ireland - Sophie Staunton (Oblate Dynamos) is one of a large contingent bringing experience of Domino's Women's Division One basketball to the roster, while Stephaine Nnabuihe (Meteors BC) is the only previously uncapped player selected. Her club mate Helena Keane (Meteors BC) is a former captain at U16 level and is fresh from wining the BIDL Women's Final at the National Basketball Arena just two weeks ago and Ciara Brogan (Liffey Celtics) is another former Ireland U16 player who makes O'Mahony's roster.
The team began their preperations in earnest with two preparation games against Luxembourg last weekend.
Basketball Ireland’s Head of Commercial and Brand Gus Lewis said: “People Playbook are the latest to embrace the Team Supporter role of our underage programmes for FIBA Youth EuroBasket. Tony (McGaharan) is someone who understands first hand the committment levels of the players, coaches and wider staff of all our teams preparing for European competition each year. To this end - the role of People Playbook and our other Team Supporters is vital and we are delighted that they have come on board."
Founder of People Playbook Tony McGaharan added: "At People Playbook, we’re passionate about developing the best leaders and most effective teams—in purposeful, practical, and playful ways. Sport has been a huge gift in my life, both personally and professionally. Having seen my brother (Paddy McGaharan) captain Ireland at underage level, I witnessed first-hand the commitment it takes—and the financial strain it can bring. It’s a privilege to now support these talented young women and help ease that burden for them and their families."
People Playbook creates purpose-built development experiences that help leaders and teams drive meaningful change, foster connection, and fuel high performance. Trusted by companies like Google, L'Oréal and FIFA, their approach is both practical and playful—turning leadership growth into something people enjoy and apply.
