Ireland U18 men's team return to home soil for Slovakia Series

Ireland men’s U18 team return to action home soil this bank holiday weekend following a hugely successful Four Nations tournament, culminating in victory over Scotland earlier this month.

14 out of 16 players used in that competition were previously uncapped at this level and remains unchanged for thier next assignment.

For Paul Kelleher’s side, that assigment comes in the form of the AWM Contracts Slovakia Series which takes place on three successive afternoons from tomorrow.

Speaking ahead of the series, Kelleher said:

“The Four Nations was a nice step for us, and this weekend vs Slovakia will hopefully provide another opportunity for us to grow in the right areas. Our prep has been good, and we are just looking forward to playing international games on home soil”

It will see Ireland continue their build-up to this summer’s FIBA European U18 Championships in Romania in July.

Coach Kelleher wants his team to expand on the rich vein of form they showed in Wales earlier this month. Aivaras Uosis (23pts), Tony Ezeonu (20pts) and Ruairí Cronin (12pts) top scored in the Four Nations final win against Scotland, a further development in continuity will be key here.
