Ireland Women's squad finalised for FIMBA European Masters Championships

The Ireland Women's Masters squad has been finalised ahead of the upcoming FIMBA European Masters Championships. 

The tournament takes place in Malaga this weekend, with Ireland facing two tough tests against Peru on Saturday, June 25th and Germany A on Monday, June 27th. 

A 14-person squad will travel, with Maureen McDermott acting as team-captain and Paula Ryan-Kavanagh as vice-captain. 

Coached by Debbie Flynn and assisted by Colette Boylan and Ann-Marie Lenehan, the squad assembled has a great skillset and is hopeful of a very successful trip to Spain. 

Team captain Maureen McDermott said: 

The team are really excited and honoured to be representing Ireland,  as I am to be captaining my country at the FIMBA Mundial Malaga 2022. 

We have put a lot of hard work in and have great coaching and management teams behind us. Here's to a great tournament.

Head Coach Debbie Flynn said: 

Coaches, players and management are all ready for the competition in Malaga, starting with our first game against Peru on Saturday. We will then take on Germany in our second pool game on Monday. We have trained hard and are looking forward to the competition. We will play our best basketball and look forward to some competitive games. There is great team spirit in the group and the commitment from the team has been second to none. Let the games begin.
