The players who will take part in the 2023/24 Basketball Ireland U15 Boys Academy have been selected, and can be viewed at the bottom of this page. Basketball Ireland wishes to thank all players that attended the Talent Identification Sessions, especially for the effort made by each and every player in the sessions.
If your child has been selected and you wish to accept the place, please read the information below.
This year we will be using a new system across the entire academy and International teams called XPS. This system can be downloaded to any mobile phone, tablet or computer. It will allow parents, players and coaches to communicate on a much quicker and safer platform. XPS will allow communication between parents and players, it will allow training plans to be shared from academy coaches, all session information will appear on XPS, session plans and video analysis can also be shared on XPS. On top of this all players will have access to huge a library of basketball drills to cover anything in the game and a similar library of strength and conditioning exercises. As this is a new system it will take a little while to get used to all the functions that it offers but the basics of getting registered and using the calendar are all very simple. For those that want to learn more you will receive links for the online tutorials.
On Wednesday 15th of Novemver all selected players will receive an email from Sideline Sports to the parents email address used to register them for the talent ID session. This email may go to your junk email so please check all inboxes. If for any reason you have not received the email by close of business Tuesday, please email Matt on mhall@ireland.basketball and include the players name, region and parents’ email. We will be prioritizing these emails for this period so please include the correct information.
Once you receive the email, please download the application and login with the details contained in the email. You will then be taken to a registration page within he app. Please complete all information requested carefully as this will be used for your child’s profile. Once this form is completed you don’t have to do anything further for the time being.
We ask that all parents register their child no later than the close of business this coming Friday 17th of November. After this time, we will mark the player as not accepting a place on the academy.
All sessions will appear on the calendar of your XPS app. Most sessions should already be up when you login with a few that will be put up this week for the December 2nd/3rd session. In future you will be able to click a button within the app to register your attendance or let coaches know if a player is unable to make it. Once registered we will send a how to guide for this. Sessions should also appear on the website but parents should be looking for details within the app.
If you do not wish to take up this place in the academy, please let us know by completing this quick form so we can give the place to someone else.
To confirm your child does not wish to attend the academy:
To focus fully on running the academy, we need to cut down on email traffic so for this coming season all information will be sent out through the XPS app and placed on the XPS calendar. We will also publish details on the Basketball Ireland website via the Academy page which can be found here:
Please bookmark this link on your browser and check at regular intervals.
Basketball Ireland Academy Page
All information on the coaching staff, session calendar, gyms and times will still appear on the academy page of the website should anyone need it but all communications for players who register for the academy should now go through the XPS network app.
Once again we have an excellent group of coaches with a lot of experience, enthusiasm and knowledge in order to raise the standard of coaching and playing.
Under the academy head coaches Martin McGettrick and Ciaran O’Sullivan, the provincial head coaches and their staff will be coaching from a syllabus put together to improve the standard of the players and give them the knowledge they will need to play basketball at an elite level.
Below you will see the confirmed players selected to each academy along with a code next to each player.
The cost of the Academy is €240 for the year up until the end of May which includes the players academy reversible kit.
Once all players are registered we will send out details on payment so no need to do anything until you receive this email which won’t be with you until after the registration deadline.
To make sure all issues are covered, and we are able to answer any questions quickly, please check messages and calendars on XPS network as well as checking the academy pages on the website for all information first before sending emails.
You will have a direct link to the academy Head coach and administrative staff for each region via the XPS app.
There are 26 Elite scholarships that will be awarded at the end of the year based on coaches feedback on players from the under 14 and under 15 age groups.
We also have 22 full scholarships for economically disadvantaged families to be shared across the under 14 age group with a further 14 being available to the under 15 age group. These may be split into some half scholarships depending on circumstances and the number of worthy applications we receive.
The idea behind these scholarships is to ensure that no talented basketball players miss out on joining the academy due to the financial requirements involved. Our aim is to help financially those most in need of assistance, so we hope parents will apply in confidence if help is required.
The deadline for applications is 24th of November and we will reply to all applications to confirm if you are successful or not no later that Monday 27th of November.
We will be sending out payment details to all those that have registered on the academy as soon as possible after this date.
Applications are by way of form only.
