Update - Portlaoise Panthers v Limerick Sport Eagles

Portlaoise Panthers have informed the National League Committee and Basketball Ireland that they will not be fulfilling the remainder of their InsureMyVan.ie Division One quarter-final against Limerick Sport Eagles. 

While playing the remaining 0.3 seconds of this contest was not a scenario wished by any party, FIBA rules were applied by the National League Committee in this instance, following Portlaoise Panthers’ appeal to overturn the result. FIBA rules state that: ‘If a foul is committed near the end of a quarter and overtime, the referee shall determine the remaining playing time. A minimum of 0.1 second shall be shown on the game clock.’

The matter is now closed, the National League Committee and Basketball Ireland will not be making any further comment. Limerick Sport Eagles will now host Moy Tolka Rovers in the InsureMyVan.ie Division One playoff semi-finals, with a date and time to be determined. The winner is due to play UCD Marian in the InsureMyVan.ie Division One final at the National Basketball Arena on Saturday 13^th April.
