The National League Committee (NLC) is aware of a rule breach during Saturday’s Domino’s Men’s Super League semi-final playoff game between Ballincollig and Griffth College Éanna.
With 6:02 left on the game clock in the 2nd quarter, Ballincollig made an error during a substitution and in doing so breached regulation 3.4.4 of the National League Rules and Regulations for the 2025/26 season with regards to maintaining ‘Two Category 1 Irish players on the court at all times’.
Following the erroneous substitution there was one passage of play, where Griffith College Éanna inbounded the ball from the Ballincollig endline. The ball was subsequently tipped out of bounds by a Ballincollig player with less than two seconds gone off the game clock. At this point the error was noticed by the table officials and a substitution was made by Ballincollig to rectify the error. The game continued without any further issues. While one passage of play took place, there was no direct impact on the result caused by the breach of the rule.
The National League Committee (NLC) met on Sunday and its decision is that the result stands as 98-77 to Ballincollig and they will progress to the Domino’s Men’s Super League final on Sunday 12th April at the National Basketball Arena. Both clubs have been informed of - and accepted - the National League Committee’s decision on the matter.
Ballincollig have been issued with an official warning regarding the rule breach.
