Basketball Ireland to run Elite Invitational Camp in Autumn of 2026

Basketball Ireland will run an Elite Invitational Camp for prospects between 14-17-years-old from the 9th-12th August 2026 in Clongowes Wood College, Co. Kildare. The camp will provisionally begin at 10:00 on Sunday, August 9th and finish at 13:00 on Wednesday, August 12th. These times are subject to change. 

There will be 100 places available on the three-day intensive camp, 50 boys and 50 girls. 

Spots on the camp will be split as follows: 

• 80 places will be invitational through Basketball Ireland's Pathway Programmes.
• 10 places for boys will be open to an application process.
• 10 places for girls will be open to an application process.

The invitation process for the above spots will begin through the Basketball Ireland Pathway Programmes on Monday, January 26th, with the application process for those currently not involved in the programme, to go live simultaneously on the  Basketball Ireland website and social media channels at 13:00. 

Basketball Ireland's Elite Invitational Camp will feature top coaches/players from Ireland, Europe and USA, providing an elite practice environment for players wishing to take their skills to the next level for the upcoming season and also for players wishing to try and play abroad in the future.

To help facilitate this goal, individual camp highlights video will be produced for each player that can be sent directly to school, club and colleges coaches for recruitment. The full camp will be videoed to allow for each player to get their own professional edited individual camp highlights package. This can be used to help place top Irish student-athletes in the shop window for potential sporting and academic opportunities in the USA and Europe.

An educational piece from from coaches and players with experience in this area will also give participants a better understanding of the requirements of this goal. The idea behind this is to give players an honest and detailed explanation of what it takes to play basketball abroad as a scholarship athlete or a professional player. 

1. Players that have been through the process themselves will also give their experiences of playing abroad and give campers a unique insight into what they might expect. 
2. Coaches and players will also give campers information and how best to pursue opportunities to become a scholarship athlete or professional player while continuing their education in Ireland. 

Participants on the Basketball Ireland Elite Invitational Camp will also have access to the following:

• Combine - speed, agility, strength testing. 
• Elite camp tournament, individual competitions. 
• Individual improvement report at the end of the camp.
