Basketball Ireland U15 Academy selections 2025/26

The players who will take part in the 2025/26 Basketball Ireland U15 Academy have been selected, and can be viewed at the bottom of this page. Basketball Ireland wishes to thank all players that attended the Talent Identification Sessions, especially for the effort made by each and every player in the sessions.

Academy place confirmation and registration

This year we will continue to use the XPS network system across the entire academy and international teams. This system can be downloaded to any mobile phone, tablet or computer. If you already have an account for the child that is selected for this year’s academy you can continue to use and the players’ squad will be updated.  It will allow parents, players and coaches to communicate on a much quicker and safer platform. XPS will allow communication between parents and players, it will allow training plans to be shared from academy coaches, all session information will appear on XPS, session plans and video analysis can also be shared on XPS. On top of this all players will have access to huge a library of basketball drills to cover anything in the game and a similar library of strength and conditioning exercises. As this is a new system it will take a little while to get used to all the functions that it offers but the basics of getting registered and using the calendar are all very simple.

How to get XPS?

By Tuesday 30^th of September all selected players will receive an email from Sideline Sports to the parents email address used to register them for the talent ID session. This email may go to your junk email so please check all inboxes. If for any reason you have not received the email by close of business Tuesday, please email Matt on mhall@ireland.basketball and include the players name, province and parents’ email. We will be prioritizing these emails for this period so please include the correct information.

Once you receive the email, please download the application and login with the details contained in the email. You will then be taken to a data capture form within the app. Please complete all information requested carefully as this will be used for your child’s profile. Once this form is completed you don’t have to do anything further for the time being. If you start this form and then go out of the app it may disappear, but you will always be able to find this form on the calendar for the date it was sent. This is the same for any future form.

Deadline for accepting the academy place?

We ask that all parents register their child no later than the close of business on Thursday 2^nd of October via the information form that will appear on your agenda on XPS when you log in. It can also be found on your XPS calendar by clicking on Tuesday 30^th of October. After this time, we will mark the player as not accepting a place on the academy.

With 400 players at this age group across the country we rely on information being correct on the database.

First Session Date?

Please note that the first academy session for u14 and u15 age groups will take place on the weekend of 5^th and 6^th of October. The dates for each session will appear on the academy page of the website as well as on your XPS calendar. We try our best to keep the website up to date with correct session times and dates in advance, but all parents should use the XPS calendar details as the confirmed details. Coaches will keep this information up to date themselves on XPS so will be correct.

All information on the coaching staff, session calendar, gyms and times will still appear on the academy page of the website should anyone need it but all communications for players who register for the academy should now go through the XPS network app.

Once again, we have an excellent group of coaches with a lot of experience, enthusiasm and knowledge to raise the standard of coaching and playing.

We are also delighted to welcome our senior mens national team coach Michael Bree as he takes on the role of Head of player pathway coaching and content. The regional head coaches and their staff will be coaching from a syllabus put together to improve the standard of the players and give them the knowledge they will need to play basketball at an elite level.

Below you will see the confirmed players selected for each academy. 

Cost of the Academy?

The cost of the Academy is €280 for the year up until the end of May which includes the players academy reversible kit, a minimum of 7 provincial training sessions and 2 full academies get togethers as well as the end of program Interprovincial tournament.

• The payment system will be sent out by message on XPS Network in coming weeks once we get registrations completed.

Once all players are registered, we will send out details on payment so no need to do anything until you receive this email which won’t be with you until after the registration deadline.

Extra Academy Activity

At the end of the regular Academy program in May a summer program selection will be made for both boys and girls. There will be continued sessions during the school holidays for these selected players should they wish to be part of the program. There will be an extra cost for this program but it is subsidized to keep costs down.

There is also potential this year that we will take part in an under 15 4 Nations tournament along with England, Scotland and Wales. This is currently being discussed with these federations. If we do take part a team will be selected to represent the Basketball Ireland Academy and we will update parents during the season. Communications

To make sure all issues are covered, and we are able to answer any questions quickly, please check messages and calendars on XPS network as well as checking the academy pages on the website for all information first before sending emails.

• If the answer is not there and it is about a training session or confirming you cannot make something please communicate with the head coach of your regional academy via XPS network.

You will have a direct link to the academy Head coach and administrative staff for each region via the XPS app.
