Basketball Ireland seek clubs to participate in Her Moves programme 2025

Basketball Ireland are seeking clubs to run our Her Moves programme, which targets teenage girls aged 13-17 to take part in a fun, inclusive social setting for one hour per week for six weeks.

This initiative is to strictly target non-club players - those that just want to try a new sport and "move" and have some fun.

Her Moves is designed to inspire and support more teenage girls to be active. It's about empowering all young women, building confidence and providing motivation to find something that gets you moving. This is a community for all teenage girls to join and 'Find something that moves them.'

It is vital the club is committed to creating a supportive environment for growth, and encouraging their continued participation. Nurturing their interest in sports provides lifelong physical and mental benefits, especially as they navigate their teenage years.

What we can offer:

  • A Speaker (to play music during the session)
  • 15 basketballs (1 for each participant)
  • 15 hoodies (1 for each participant)
  • Grant for hall hire and coach fee (the coach should understand the ethos of Her Moves - it is fun and inclusive where everyone should feel comfortable participating and trying some new skills with no judgement or expectation.)

What we would need from your club:

  • To recruit 15 girls between the ages 13-17.
  • To provide a 'coach' to run a fun session once per week for an hour.
  • To get hoodie sizes so we can process an order.
  • To provide an address so we can post the speaker and basketballs or arrange collection.

We have a limited number of programme places (10 for the season). If you are interested in running this programme please email Louise O’Loughlin loloughlin@ireland.basketball with your club name and proposed start date.

Closing date for applications 12 noon Thursday 6th March 2025.

All clubs must be registered with Basketball Ireland.

Note not all applications will be successful and we will aim to have a geographical spread throughout the country.
