Basketball Ireland Masters' head coaches have announced their final-12 players ahead of the FIMBA Maxibasketball World Championship in Ticino, Switzerland. Five teams will compete over nine days from June 27th in categories from O40 to O65 men's and women's. The competition features more than 165 teams from around the world.

Basketball Ireland Masters programme lead Mike Murray said: "I'd like to thank all the coaches, managers, players and staff who have helped get us to this stage of the process. The enthusiasm showed by everyone involved has been amazing and preparation starts in earnest for all the teams now".
Head coach Glenn Millar has selected his 12-person squad to compete at the FIMBA Maxibasketball World Championship 2025.
Speaking at the announcement of his squad, Millar said:
"It is an honour to Coach the over 40’s Irish masters woman’s team again this year. After a successful championship last year in Italy winning 4 out 6 games, I am very optimistic with this year’s team that is going to Switzerland.
I am delighted to have several returning players combining their experience from last year with this year’s new players. Selection was difficult as each player has brought an energy and enthusiasm to the team.
I am proud as are the team to represent their country in the upcoming championship. To have a dedicated group of players and an incredible management team supporting our upcoming challenge. The team and I are looking forward to representing Ireland and woman’s basketball."

Ireland O40 Men's head coach Kieran Leahy has chosen his final 12 players ahead of the FIMBA Maxibasketball World Championship.
Several of the players involved with the squad will be earing their first international caps with others resuming their representation from underage international duty. The squad has retained 3 players from last summer’s European championship squad and have added a lot of experienced former and current super league talent.
“I am thrilled with the panel of 12 players that we’ve chosen for these upcoming World Championships. The players have shown incredible commitment, effort and passion to wear the Irish Jersey and im positive that they will represent our country with both pride and honour. Im very much looking forward to working with a very experienced and high-level basketball team in preparation for the World Championship in Ticino, Switzerland June 27-July 6th, 2025. The Masters basketball programme has gone from strength to strength the last number of years and the participation numbers and interest now in representing Ireland at international master’s level is a great sign of where the programme is.
There were obviously hard decisions when it came to the final squad selections, and I hope that those who have missed out on this occasion will go back, work on the games and come back stronger“

Ireland O45 Women's head coach Sergio Irles is able to include plenty of experience from last year's FIMBA European Championship in his final squad of 12.

Ireland head coach Martin (Kojack) Conroy has trimmed his squad down to 12 for the O50 men's category, where Ireland finished 5th in the FIMBA European Championship in Pesaro a year ago.
“I am delighted and privileged to be lead coach for the Masters' programme and head coach for the men’s 050’s team for the world championships In Ticino next month. The guys have come through the selection process, and we are now getting down to the hard work to be ready for the championship. After coming 5th in the Euros in Italy last year it's great to have some many players returning and the new blood in the team will definitely bring huge energy and basketball IQ .
The next 6 to 7 weeks will be exciting and tough but we wouldn't want it any other way. Myself and the coaching staff are looking forward to the challenge “

Ireland O65 men's head coach Owen O'Brien has made his final 12 selected for the FIMBA Maxibasketball World Championship, with three players from UCD Marian and two overseas based players making the trip.
"Really looking forward to coaching Ireland’s Over 65 Mens Team at the 2025 World Championship in Ticino, Switzerland, from June 27 to July 6. This tournament marks my own debut at an international competition and also the first major Masters tournament appearance for one of our players. The rest of the squad are seasoned campaigners, who finished 6th in the European Masters in Pesaro in 2024. Our squad consists of 10 Irish-based players, along with two joining us from the U.S. Among them are three players from UCD Marian, two from Templeogue, and two from Neptune. Five other clubs are also represented. They have all worked extremely hard to prepare for this and hopefully their dedication and hard work will be rewarded with good results in the Championships."
