USA Basketball's Don Showalter to deliver seven coaching clinics this August

Basketball Ireland are delighted to welcome Don Showalter this August to deliver seven events to our coaching community. Each clinic will have 200 CPD points awarded towards the Basketball Ireland coaching lincence. 

Showalter has one of the most impressive C.V.s in youth basketball, some highlights include:

• USA Basketball Youth & Sport Development coach director since May 2016 and has coached multiple NBA stars including Anthony Edwards, Bradley Beal and Jayson Tatum. 
• Led USA men's U16 & U17 national teams to a perfect 62-0 record from 2009-2018, earning 10 gold medals.
• Named USA Basketball Developmental Coach of the Year nine times and was the U.S. Olympic Committee Volunteer Coach of the Year in 2012. 
• Has coached over 50 NBA players, including 4 of the top 5 2021 draft picks: Evan Mobley, Jalen Suggs, Jalen Green, and Scottie Barnes.
• As a high school coach for 42 years, he achieved a 601-346 overall record, won 16 district titles, and made six state tournament appearances. 
• Recognized with several prestigious awards, including the National High School Athletic Coaches Association National Coach of the Year in 2009 and the NABC Advocacy Award in 2004. 
• Won the Iowa Basketball Coaches Association Coach of the Year 10 times.

The clinics will take place across five different events in Dundalk, Belfast, Donegal, Limerick and Dublin with topics including:

1. Developing a Team and Club Culture (Seminar)
2. Developing Shooters
3. Improving Passing in your Offense
4. Competitive Drills for Practice Using 3x3 to Develop Player Skills
5. Practice Organisation
6. Developing an Offense for Youth Players
