Basketball Ireland would like to announce that trials will take place during our 3x3 event in Limerick on July 16th/17th, as part of the selection process for an U17 boys and girls team to compete in the FIBA Europe Cup Qualifiers in August.
Once selected both teams will travel to Hungary on the weekend of August 5th/6th to play in the qualifying event. All players wishing to be considered for selection MUST be available to travel between August 5th-8th.
Players will also be invited to compete at training sessions in the build up to the competition to ensure that the best team possible is assembled, giving us the best chance of advancing in the qualification process.
The tournament in Limerick is an open competition and can be entered by anyone born in 2005 or later. Players can make there own team and as is normal with 3x3 events can play with anyone from any club or country. Only eligible players will be considered for the 3x3 national team.
You can register for the event here.
All players wishing to play in the event must have an active profile on the FIBA 3x3 site, which is free to make.
The U17 competition will begin on Saturday, July 16th at 12 noon.
