Latest dates for NBN23 Advanced Stats scorekeeper training and live game practice day announced

Basketball Ireland in association with NBN23 has been rolling out Advanced Stats training for digital scorekeepers since May and new dates for July and August have been announced.

An additional in-person live game practice day is being offered for NBN23 Advanced Stats operators at the Ireland versus Austria friendly game at the National Basketball Arena on August 12th, ahead of the rollout for the 2023/24 National League season, with additional opportunities to be announced a pre-season tournaments nationally. Advanced Stats digital scorekeepers must register in advance if they wish to partake in the live game practice day on August 12th by emailing National League manager John Walsh on jwalsh@ireland.basketball by 5pm on Tuesday 1st August stating your name, email address and club. Special Advanced Stats digital scorekeeper game tickets will then be issued via email, these are only to be used by those involved in training and cannot be used as general spectator tickets.

Advanced Statistics will be run at National League level for the 2023/24 season and each team must have four trained personnel.  New webinar dates have been added for July and August.

The training is open to those not affiliated with a National League club too, who wish to get involved in digital scorekeeping. Prior to attending the webinar NBN23 scorekeepers should undertake the Advanced Stats course on NBN23 website, which you can access here. Please click ‘Get Certificate FIBA’, online training will take approximately 40-50 minutes to complete, with both the ‘Basic Stats’ and ‘Advanced Stats’ training course available.

There will be a representative from NBN23, Jorge Ramos, and a member of CTOC will also be available to answer any Table Official related questions each night.

The NBN23 ‘Basic Stats’ digital scoresheet will be rolled out at grassroots level too during the 2023/24 season. Those interested in becoming a scorekeeper can undertake the NBN23 ‘Basic Stats’ training online here, please click ‘Get Certificate FIBA’, training will take approximately 40-50 minutes to complete. Webinars for ‘Basic Stats’ to be announced in due course.

In addition, the Intro and Advanced Table Official courses run by the Commissioners and Table Officials Committee (CTOC) also includes a NBN23 training module. 

An Intro Table Officials Course will take place on Saturday 22nd July 2023. The NBN23 Basic Stats module will also be included on this course.  An Advanced Table Officials Course will take place on Monday 24th July 2023.
