Jr. NBA programme to get underway this month

This year’s Jr. NBA programme will be kicking off soon, with the primary goal of Jr. NBA in Ireland to provide a fun opportunity for kids to play basketball. We want to ensure that everybody taking part in the programme has the same goal for the Jr. NBA league - to give young players a fun, and attention grabbing, introduction to the sport. This is a great non-competitive way for schools to start their journey in basketball and over the first two years of the league we’ve reached over two thousand new players. This year, we are going to have ten new clubs and thirty new schools, which means there are opportunities for even more children to play in the Jr. NBA.

10 clubs have been chosen and each of those will invite three local schools to take part.

Jr. NBA Clubs

North Kildare Basketball Club
Kilrish Basketball Club
Dynamites BC
Bantry BC
Malahide BC

Jr. NBA league manager, Erin Bracken, is looking forward to the beginning of this year’s league.

"We have 10 fantastic clubs on board this Jr.NBA programme, that I have no doubt will do a brilliant job in providing a fun environment for so many kids. This will hopefully lead to greater participation throughout the country."

The Jr. NBA draft will take place in the National Basketball Arena on March 29th, which will be posted on our social channels.
