Basketball Ireland nominated for National Governing Body of The Year at Irish Sports Industry Awards

Basketball Ireland have received two nominations, including National Governing Body of The Year at the 'Federation of Irish Sport' 2023 Irish Sport Industry Awards.

The second nomination comes in the 'Best Use of Communications Platforms in Sport' category for the introduction of basketballireland.tv and the Swish All Hoops app. The winners of the 11 categories in total will be revealed at the 2023 Irish Sport Industry Awards ceremony at Dublin’s Westin Hotel on Thursday 25th May.

'It's fantastic to see the ongoing hard work of the staff and volunteers of Basketball Ireland being recognised,' said Basketball Ireland CEO John Feehan. 'The last twelve months have been a very important period of development for Irish basketball both on and off the court, and lot of hard work has gone in at all levels to ensure it was a success. 'basketballireland.tv and the Swish All Hoops app are two key building blocks in the digitisation of Irish basketball, bringing an increased accessibility and awareness of the sport to our fans in Ireland and across the globe. There's also been some fantastic innovation across the spectrum of sport in Ireland this year, so for Basketball Ireland to be amongst the nominees for the Irish Sport Industry Awards is a nice acknowledgement of what we are trying to achieve.' he added.

The awards ceremony will be attended by an audience of invited guests from across the sports sector with Deputy Niamh Smyth TD, Chair of the Oireachtas Committee on Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media delivering the keynote address.

The 11 award categories celebrate a cross section of organisations, people and capabilities that fuel and drive the management, funding, and sustainability of sport in Ireland.

The Judging Panel for the 2023 awards chaired by Rob Hartnett, Founder and CEO of Sport for Business comprises members of the sports sector from media, business, PR, and local and national representative bodies.
