Belfast Star win top of the table clash against Griffith College Éanna in Domino's Men's Super League

Belfast Star recovered from their first loss of the Domino’s Men’s Super League season with an 11-point victory over second-place Griffith College Éanna on Sunday.

Éanna never led by more than a single point throughout the game with Belfast reaching a lead of 17 in the fourth quarter. The win extends Star’s lead at the top with the Belfast outfit six points ahead of Éanna. For Éanna, it is their third defeat of the season. However, they remain second for the time being with Ballincollig having a game in hand to be played on Friday to potentially move Éanna down the table.

UCD Marian had a huge 28-point win over an injury-hit Killester on Sunday. Joshua Reynolds scored 24 and Tanner Graham had a double-double for Marian. Marian had a 57-point first half and took a 27-point lead in at half-time that was too much for Killester to contend with. Killester struggled to contend in a game where they were missing their two pro’s in Robert Braswell and Baptiste Chazelas. Killester stay third for the time being at 5-3 and UCD Marian now go level with them and sit in fourth position after two successive wins this weekend for the Dublin side.

Ej Sligo All-Stars defeated Garvey’s Tralee Warriors 95-94 through two Christian Michael Williams free-throws in the final seconds of the game. RJ Etyle-Rock followed up his 28-point game in the win on Saturday against Flexachem KCYMS with another 26 points today while Jazere Noel continued his fine form with 19 points and seven rebounds. Sligo’s second win of the weekend sees them jump to sixth place in the table and move to an even 4-4 record on the season, level with Tralee. Warriors fall to fifth after a second loss in a row this weekend after losing to Ballincollig on Friday.

William Thomas dropped a 31-point display in Limerick as St. Vincent’s made it two wins in a row with a 90-84 triumph over Limerick Celtics in Crescent College. Celtics only had four scorers in the game with Finn Hughes, AJ Williams and Abdul Wurie all scoring at least 20 points. There will be a significant worry for Vincent’s as star guard Jaylyn Richardson had to be helped off the court due to an injury late in the fourth quarter. For Celtics, their maiden Domino’s Men’s Super League season continues to falter as they fall to tenth in the table with a record of 2-6. The win for St. Vincent’s finally sees them back to 4-4 and has them sitting in ninth spot but are level with teams as high as sixth in the Domino’s Men’s Super League.

Flexachem KCYMS secured a comfortable 92-65 win over Energywise Ireland Neptune. Five Killorglin players were in double digits, notably Liam Croke who scored 14 points in just 18 minutes of action. Patrick Lanipekun had a 12-point, 10-rebound double-double for the Kerry side as they go to 4-4 along with Garvey’s Tralee Warriors, Ej Sligo All-Stars and St. Vincent’s. For Neptune, their poor start to the season continues, Ciaran McKineny’s side now stand at 1-7 after a second consecutive defeat.
