3x3 basketball is taking over the iconic Eyre Square in Galway next week. Basketball Ireland’s 3x3 court will be laid out in the city centre location on July 1st and 2nd for a feast of basketball, featuring more than 40 teams. The event is being run in association with Galway City Council, Basketball Ireland, The Eyre Square Association and Deep RiverRock.
Teams from all ages will be catered for, with games at U12, U14, U14 and U18 boys and girls, along with senior men’s and women’s competitions.
Mike Murray, Basketball Ireland Development Officer for Galway, said: “This promises to be a great family event, showcasing quality 3x3 basketball at the historic Eyre Square. People can get involved, or come along and watch what is considered the world’s number one urban sport. We’ve been working tirelessly with our partners, Galway City Council and The Eyre Square Association and Deep RiverRock to prepare for the event, to ensure it’s weekend to remember.”
