Ireland U18 women's squad reduced to 16 ahead of Four Nations Tournament

Ireland U18 women’s head coach Tommy O’Mahony has reduced his squad to 16, as the focus turns towards the upcoming Four Nations tournament in Scotland.

Irish senior international Grace Prenter heads a group of 13 Irish based players, while Sidney Quinn, Mackenzie Teevan and guard Sophie Nascimento are the overseas players included in O’Mahony’s latest squad.

Teevan, Nascimento, Sarah Courtney (Killester BC), Laura McFarland (East Cavan Eagles) and Bolu Ugwah (Douglas Panthers) are the previously uncapped players who make the cut, with the remainder all carrying experience at FIBA Youth EuroBasket at U16 or U18 level.

Meteors BC are the best represented club, as Aisling Moran and Kira Lynch join Prenter on the roster. FloMAX Liffey Celtics are double handed with Kelly Bracken and Clara Boyce, as are McEvoy’s Cavan Eagles through Emma Tolan and the aforementioned McFarland. Six other clubs appear on the list, Gurranabraher Credit Union Brunell, Abbey Seals Dublin Lions, Marble City Hawks/Kilkenny Stars, St. Pauls Killarney, Douglas Panthers and Killester BC.

Speaking on his selection, head coach Tommy O’Mahony said: “It’s always difficult to make cuts and as usual there were some very tight calls. I’m really excited with the level of talent in the group and both the players, and my staff are looking forward to the next phase of preparations for this summer’s FIBA Youth EuroBasket.”

Ireland will travel to Dundee, Scotland to take on Scotland, England and Wales between the April 2nd to April 4th.
