St Joseph's CBS Nenagh survive late Coláiste Mhuirlinne surge to win Pinergy U19C All-Ireland Schools final

St Joseph’s CBS, Nenagh were crowned Pinergy All-Ireland U19C Schools Cup Champions after surviving a late Coláiste Mhuirlinne comeback to lift the trophy on a 42-45 scoreline.

It was Coláiste Mhuirlinne who started the final on the front foot, the Galway side fast out of the blocks with their efforts spearheaded by MVP on the day Stephan Owede (20) and the influential Jason Nwose (13) whose lay-up gave his school a 9-4 lead.

To their credit, St Joseph’s CBS changed up their offence for the second quarter with Charlie O’Gorman (12) and Sean McNamara (11) coming to the fore to go in ahead by two at the interval.

Fionn O’Meara of St. Joseph’s set the tone after the half-time break with a score of his own. Jason Nwose stepped up for Coláiste Mhuirlinne, but by the end of the third St. Joseph’s led by 16.

The game was far from over as Coláiste Mhuirlinne limited their opponents to five fourth quarter points and staged a comeback, but it wasn’t to be as St Joseph’s CBS closed out well before captain Fionn O’Meara lifted the trophy.
