Vacancy - Basketball Ireland Community Development Officer Fingal

Basketball Ireland is looking to increase its presence in the Fingal Area with a Basketball Ireland Community Development Officer and is now inviting applications for the role in conjunction with Fingal County Council.

The successful candidate will be committed to providing participation opportunities for all sections of the community in various basketball activities. They will work with organisations including local authorities, clubs, schools and Basketball Ireland, with the primary goal of ensuring that suitable programmes and training services are in place at local and national levels.

This role is a full-time role based in Fingal County Council. Please see job specification below.

Job title:

‘Basketball in the Community Development Officer’ (BCDO) to work within the Fingal County Council catchment area.

Reports To:

Basketball Ireland Head of Development.

Role Duties: 

The “BCDO” will continue to deliver Basketball Ireland Programmes and ensure that the activities in Fingal are properly integrated into the broader objectives of promoting basketball and community development generally.

The “BCDO” will work closely with existing agencies, as nominated by Fingal County Council, and operate in an integrated manner with all relevant personnel, communities, and target groups.

• Social outreach – young adults/teens
• Working in disadvantaged areas
• Women in Sport
• Ethnic Minority Engagement/Hard to Reach Groups
• Males over 35
• Club Development in Fingal County Council
• Development of Inclusive Programmes for People with Disabilities

These target groups will be reviewed on an annual basis and amended as required. Work programmes that are developed must include the designated target groups. 

Metrics:

• Evening / Night Sessions in target areas – aligned with An Garda Siochana
• Coaching Courses delivered, both club and ‘social’ outreach - local area ‘role-model’ development.
• Basketball Ireland initiatives – e.g. “Masters” basketball for seniors / ‘SOCIA-Ball’
• ‘New’ communities’ engagement
• Ongoing assessment of community needs as role develops

Hours:

Full-Time, 40 Hours per week. The successful candidate must be flexible to evening and weekend working hours
